Confessions of a testaholic !

You know you have been preparing for management entrance exams for long when:

- everytime you read an article, you fear there are questions going to be asked on it, so you read it carefully.

- when you travel in a fast train between Andheri and Bandra, and a slow train is moving alongside, you calculate the time taken by your train to overtake the slow train.

- you think you can calculate at what rate is the water flowing from the tap every morning you brush your teeth.

- when you call a friend to invite him/her for a movie, you only give half details of who is coming and who is not.

- instead you give details like one who likes red isn't coming and Pooja comes only if Riddhi doesn't accompany her.

- your facebook updates are actually in sync with whats not on your mind.
- when mom calls you for dinner, you respond with "i ll join you in exactly 2 mins and 30 seconds." and you regret you took 6 mins 54 secs.

- while playing a cricket match, you wish you could play the last two overs now and come back to middle overs later.

- while driving on the highway, every 20 minutes you calculate your average speed per hour.

- you always have an approximate answer, whether its 1/17 or 10/2.

- you know what is the meaning of 'Veil of truth' but are scared to explain it to anyone.

- you try to rearrange the headlines of a newspaper to form a coherent paragraph.

- whenever movies like lagaan or jo jeeta wohi sikandar are telecast on TV, you make sure you watch the ending of both the movies.

- you think of writing a blogpost like this and end up writing one (and you feel you can afford to).

- waiting in the railway ticket Q is a time when you think you are relaxing from your busy schedule.

- looking at a senior in office you think you can do things he cant even imagine.

-when guests arrive at home, you dont want to sit with them for snacks if its 8 people and they are sitting in a circular table.

- you know, the reader of this post is not interested to read this but you still think of points you can add.

- finally you spare the reader and feel you have done some charity!

(The above post is a pure work of fiction. Any resemblance to any person/s living or dead or situation/s is unintentional and purely co-incidental.)

Travel Chants...(Poem)

I am a traveller,
the world is my destination,
and the only vehicle i ve,
is the wings of my imagination.

I ve travelled so long,
but i still believe i m yet to start,
Oh, i am actually lost,
and i kno i ve to start from scratch.

Everytime i cross a river,
i look back only to find it was a creek,
the seven seas are yet to come,
how will i manage, not being a geek.

The mountains tell me, be stronger- dream higher,
the skies tell me, be humble- think wider,
the wind tells me, keep moving- bury the worry,
and the trees tell me "dear, why are u in a hurry?"

And they are my real co travellers,
even if they arent around,
tis' their lessons that be with me
they are a magic, always true to be.

I travel north-south, i travel left-right,
Travelling is what i am are here for,
every day i start from scratch,
and i call this journey, My Life!

Some strangers you meet travel with you for long,
some who travel with you, remain strangers throughout,
but 'He' has told me to care for all i meet
i have believed in Him, and never cast a doubt.

I dont recollect, where i was yesterday,
i dont know, where i will be tommorrow,
all i know is, i have miles to go before i sleep,
coz i really have lots n lots of promises to keep. (thnx tolstoy)

I am a traveller,
and i shall die travelling,
travelling is my life,
and i shall die living.

Valentine's Day Out!!

Valentines day is just around the corner and many would have started thinking of suitable gifts for their loved ones.... what to buy, what not to buy, etc... But in lieu of recent events in few cities and open threats given by some so called moral polices in the name of MNS, Sri Ram sene and many such outfits, the youngsters are worried to make public appearences with thier girl/boy friend to keep the wolves away... Hmmm...

So what do you think? Does a day like valentine's day need such a protest in our country which is already filled will so much hatred or do you support this universal day of love? Or do you feel you dont really need a day to express love? What is your idea of valentine's day?

Here's your chance to voice your opinions. Be frank and speak your heart out. Whether you are for or against the celebrations, or what is your idea of a perfect valentines day date, or how you wish to spend the day with your special person, or some (love guru kind of) master tips for wannabes, some previous funny incidents, what ever related comes to your mind.... Just say it out...

Simply use the comments section. Click on the comments link on (www.mehtabhavin.blogspot.com) and use the space as a forum to voice your opinions and also check what others have to say about this issue..

The Audacity of hope!

While i write this many, around the world would be still stuck on their television sets watching history being made. Barack Hussein Obama is now the 44th president of the United States of America. And never ever i have been so excited to watch the swearing in ceremony of any leader of any country.

But with so much hope and hype, come a lot of expectations. And i believe he with his charismatic style of leading, pragmatic approach towards problems and great oratory skills definitely be able to bring about a catalytic change in the structure of the world.

What needs to be seen is how he deals with the current economic crisis in the world, the situation in Afghanistan and troops in Iraq and how much does he succeed in reaffirming that America can still be what their forefathers had dreamt it of being.

I really hope that Mr. oBaMa lives up to the expectations of restoring peace in the world and turns out to be the real guide to the change. Long Live Mr. President.

I would not hesitate is stating that BM truly idolizes Barack oBaMa.

Can guns really protect us?

BM Editorial:
Thousands of years ago when nature was in its infant stage of human development, the ultimate supreme of this earth would have never thought that that one day its most intelligent species, mankind, will make this heaven a hell to dwell upon. Fortunately, not everything is lost.

Since ages we have heard of wars taking place between countries, dynasties on basis of land expansions or other such unconvincing reasons to establish their own supremacy. The two world wars were thus the inevitable outcomes. Today post cold war, even though countries are not fighting for land, there is another bigger threat that has been thrown on them due to opposing ideologies. Some religious, some extremist and some anti human antagonism has resulted in another inevitable. Terrorism.

Worldover, it exists in different forms. Apart from the recent Terror attacks on mumbai, other popular attacks have been the US 9/11, London, Glasgow 7/11, Serial blasts and the list goes on. Whats more disheartening is that these are on a rise and the question is how can we citizens be protected from such incidents?

Ofcourse, military support using arms and ammunitions is very essential for self defence. But this will be nothing more than a cosmetic effort to cover up the losses, rather than preventing them. We need a solution to cut the roots of these problems which can only be solved by taking concrete steps. First, the citizens have to be vigil and keep an eye on things around for any suspicious elements. Then, the government has to initiate some strong anti terror mechanismswhich can ensure safety.

But another question that arises is how can guns protect us from our own social evils like poverty, illiteracy, discriminations on caste, creed or color, dowry systems. To address these issues we need more stringent measures.

We need another Gandhi. India needs a new modern age Gandhi for its revival. Education to all, with special emphasis to women education is a must. Also, the youth of the nation has to stage a non violent uprising to eliminate these problems completely by being socially active, participating in the political process and taking initiatives.

We need much more than weapons to protect ourselves and secure and create a better future for our children and the next generation.

What the hell!! What the #%&*!

Its 1.51 am, 27th NOV and i(alone) am travelling in Chennai Mumbai Express towards Mumbai. And i am shit scared. Scared for my life! I got a call from my sister around 11.30 that there have been some blasts in mumbai. I rugged it off as just another case of serial blasts and didnt worry. Then another call from Jiju in bangalore at 1.20 am that theres blast, terrorists throwing grenades, police firings, etc. I decided to put on my laptop and check for it myself thru news websites... only to realise that the terrorists have themselves openly taken to ground thistime and to me it seems as if i am heading towards a war front! With police in my bogey, appearing and now disappeared, i m even more scared...

I dont kno what tomorrow morning holds for me when i reach Dadar. But trust me Its very scary.
Moreso for those whose loved ones are in areas near where the firings are on... God!

Prayers for Peace!!

The secret i know!!

I dont know why i feel like sharing this secret with people i know, but the fact remains...
"You see so many things in your daily life. Get soo many feelings for others- good or bad. But what you fail to realise is that the whole world around you is nothing but just an ILLUSION!!
Your friends are an illusion,
Your Relatives are illusion,
You ever felt that u shared a wonderful bonding
with someone special, it was an illusion.
Your achievements were an illusion,
The races you ran as a child
and the ones which you won were an illusion.
Mind you,
Even if you lost something it was an illusion,
if ever you lose someone close to your heart, it ' ll be an illusion
coz the zero distance between the 2 hearts was itself an illusion.
The sky might not be the same for all,
the animals may be humans,
humans are probably still in the stone age,
this is the fact of the fact, that it is just an illusion.
You were never together with someone, nor were you ever alone,
coz wat ever u felt was an illusion.
The health you build, the diseases you have,
the food you eat, the water you drink dont make a difference.
The rainy winter, the cloudy summer, the spring et al was, is and will be an illusion.
Dont be happy for what you have,
nor be sad for what you dont,
Never question your presence,
coz illusion cant be questioned...
Every thing in this world is an illusion,
The terror, the sports, the growth stories, the independence- is all illusion

PS. Only one thing is not an illusion... there might be a different meaning (that no one else ever discovered) for this word called ILLUSION!!!
Dont be illusioned, that everything is illusion."

Winter of 05!

Roz subha ko 6 baje uthke,
Brush karke nahake dhoke,
Ready hoke mein college jaun,
Aur phir lecture me so jaun..
.. College ke baad project ke bahane,
Canteen aur frenz ke ghar jaun,
Full-to timepass masti karke,
ghar pe thakela muh leke jaun.
Mummy soche beta ye mera,
dekho kitni mehnat hai karta,
Par toh ye sirf hum hi jaane,
Khud ki kare hum aise deewane,
... These were the best days of my life!
Oh Yeah, back in the campus of Bhagubhai.
(next stanza for professional life)
Boss ki wife ko Bhabhi bulakar,
collegues ke saamne use bhaiya kahenge,
Boss ke saath meeting me jaakar,
Sharma sir ke jaise shayari kahange.
Company ke, AGM me jaake.
Jahbak ke jaisi comedy karenge.
Senoirs hume kuch kaam bole toh,
Reema maam ke jaise Shut-up kahenge,
Hamare saare collegues ko hardam,
Saxena sir ke Paath padayenge,
Aur hamare juniors bechare,
Unke liye to hum devils hi rahenge.

....Those were the best days of my life
... We learnt all this in Bhagubhai
Oh Hun,,, Campus.. campus of Bhagubhai.

The above poem is written by Bhavin Mehta (thats me) in memory of college days of NM BMS spent in the capmus of Bhagubhai Mafatlal Polytechnic.
Statutory Declaration: No offence intended to any one. Neither the professors, nor the college nor the campus.
its was all fun to be there.

BM.
